An
American Entrepreneur's Vision:
Kleyne is an extraordinary personality an attractive and charismatic communicator who is on a mission to alert the public about an emerging eyesight health crisis. She is a powerful communicator, a pioneer in the eye-hydrotherapy and water-science fields and is a visionary entrepreneur whose story and analyses are as startling as they are compelling.
Every
weekday morning, Sharon Kleyne climbs the stairs to her second floor office in
rural southern Oregon, in a building converted from a stable she and her
husband built many years ago. Her office window looks out over horse pastures on
her 40 acre property and surrounding farmland, with tree-cloaked mountains in
the distance. A quarter-mile away, on the same 40 acre property, employees are
filling orders in a modern Class 1000 bottling and shipping facility.
Mrs. Kleyne
is Chairman and Founder of Bio-Logic Aqua Technologies Biomedical Research, the
world's only company specializing in Water and Hydrotherapy research (under the
slogan, Exploring Life in Water). The task at which
she has labored for 20 years, is to revolutionize public education regarding the
relationship between water and health. Bio-Logic Aqua Technologies is a
privately held company Co-founded by Mrs. Kleyne and her husband, Willem. Her
company is financedthrough
their personal resources and a small investor group that shares her commitment and
vision.
Because
of ever-increasing population and pollution, Mrs. Kleyne explains, the world
is, in effect, drying up. For thousands of years, the air's moisture and humidity
enabled human eyes and skin to breathe naturally, and life on Earth to be healthy.
Sadly, our world is becoming dryer and dryer. Dry air related symptoms and diseases
are rampant and humans can't possibly drink enough water to prevent them.
In
addition to educating the public about global dryness, Mrs. Kleyne and her company
have been attempting to discover and make available methods for individuals to
provide for themselves what the air no longer provides. To help achieve this, she
has assembled an advisory team of dermatologists, ophthalmologists, medical
school professors, opticians, biochemical researchers, first aid and emergency
experts, and experts in military field medicine. Like the investor group, these
dedicated and individuals share Mrs. Kleyne's concerns
and agree with her assessments.
Recently,
Bio-Logic Aqua Technologies introduced two revolutionary products. Mrs. Kleyne felt
extremely gratified and vindicated - when the medical establishment quickly endorsed
both the products and global demand proved far greater than anticipated. The
company has 15 additional all-water hydrotherapy products in development.
Nature's
Tears EyeMist, introduced in early 2004, resulted from the discovery that a
primary cause of many eye conditions is excessive moisture evaporation from the
ocular tear film. By using a special, naturally pure,
pH balanced water, applied as a fine mist, Nature's Tears EyeMist became the first
product to naturally replenish tear film moisture. It accomplishes this without
formulated eye drops that can be difficult to apply and flood the eyes with
chemicals.
Nature's
Tears EyeMist is available in 75,000 retail outlets, including doctor's offices,
hospitals and US military bases. In retail locations such as Walgreens, CVS and Wal-Mart, the product has acquired shelf
space alongside such corporate giants as Pfizer, Alcon,
and Bausch and Lomb. The company's continuing education (CE) course, Tear Film
and Dry Eye Disease is proving invaluable to the many pharmacists
who were unprepared for the recent upswing in dry eye questions.
Bio Med Wash, introduced in late 2004, is an innovative emergency
first aid spray for eyes and skin. Like Nature's Tears EyeMist, Bio Med Wash utilizes a pure, all-natural, pH balanced water in a
sterile spray applicator. The product has many advantages over existing eye and
wound washes. Eyewashes have always relied on chemically formulated drops or baths,
or on uncomfortable eyewash stations. These can be inconvenient and
uncomfortable to apply, especially in an emergency, and often cause temporary
blurring of vision. Saline solution (buffered sodium chloride in water) and
sodium borate, traditionally used in eye and wound washes, are also unnatural
and uncomfortable.
Public
response to Bio Med Wash is far exceeding projections and the product has been
endorsed by fire departments, rescue organizations and emergency response
experts worldwide.
I
strongly believe, Mrs. Kleyne explains, that if Bio Med Wash had been available during the World
Trade Center disaster, more of the people who were blinded or
disoriented by dust, smoke and explosions could have found their way out. That
belief is the basis for the Bio Med Wash slogan, Clear Vision Can Save a Life.
The
initial Bio-Logic Aqua product, extensively test-marketed in the late 1990's,
was Nature's Mist/Face of the Water, an all-natural, pure water skin spray with
a pump applicator. The product was developed from the discovery that moisturizing
lotion, creme and gel products, do not actually moisturize (because moisture
by definition, is water, not lotion). Instead, they help seal in existing skin
moisture and are most effective when used immediately following a product that
does actually add moisture.
Nature's Mist is the only product with that ability. It not only restores
radiance and color to dry skin, but also restores color to dried
out cosmetics.
Nature's
Mist was test-marketed in such prestigious outlets as I. Magnin
and Bergdorf-Goodman, and later through a nationwide TV infomercial. It was
withdrawn (although it remains available online), not due to lack of sales but
because the company determined that it would be better served by emphasizing
the medical benefit of its products rather than the cosmetic benefit. Nature's Mist
will be reintroduced in 2006 as a dermatological product.
America,
Mrs. Kleyne concludes, is still a country which recognizes that entrepreneurs
build a successful economy. I am gratified that more and more of these bold and
visionary individuals are women. Other countries, such as China,
may excel in manufacturing development and mass production, but most Americans
still feel pride when purchasing American invented and American made products.
